Arrhythmia surgery: pacemakers, defibrillators and atrial fibrillation
Arrhythmias are disturbances of the heart's rhythm. Depending on the type, they are treated with implantable devices or with procedures that act on the source of the disturbance.
What it is
Pacemakers correct rhythms that are too slow. Defibrillators detect and treat dangerously fast rhythms. Resynchronisation devices coordinate the contraction of the heart chambers.
Atrial fibrillation can be addressed with ablation or surgical techniques, sometimes during another cardiac operation.
When it is used
- Bradycardia and heart block that need pacing.
- Risk of serious ventricular arrhythmias.
- Atrial fibrillation not controlled with medication.
How Salomed Bio helps

Other treatments
General, informative content. It does not replace the judgement of the medical team.
